Losing your virginity is a pretty straightforward thing for the heteronormative types. It's discussed widely in society - whether it's telling a girl her virginity is a delicate flower, or an awkward encounter in your favourite sitcom. Unfortunately, queer virginity is often dismissed and seen as a taboo topic.Refinery29 has put together a few interviews with queer women about their views of what it means to "lose your virginity".
"On a larger scale, virginity is patriarchal and seems totally dumb. Now, I just feel like, what even is it? Sex should be consensual and positive, regardless of what you’re doing, who you're doing it with, and how many times you have or haven’t had it before."
